Dr Hugh Osgood is a senior UK church leader, accomplished Bible teacher and preacher, and is known for his thoroughness combined with strategic and practical insights.

Hugh is passionate about equipping fellow leaders and for encouraging churches to engage with their communities.

Over the years he has taught at many conferences with his sermons being widely broadcast on radio and TV. Much of this recorded material is now available to download for free as part of his commitment to increase biblical literacy worldwide.

He has held a number of national and international positions, including the Free Churches Moderator and a President of Churches Together in England, as well as being the Co-Convenor of the UK Charismatic and Pentecostal Leaders’ Gathering and serving as the founding President of Churches in Communities International.

In 2007 Hugh founded the charity Charis Communications to enable him to meet needs much wider than the local church setting.

1960

His ministry began in 1965 when he was a youth leader in an Anglican church, and over the past 50 years he has planted churches, gathered leaders and participated in many large scale stadium events and missions.

1970-80

As a visionary pioneer and facilitator, Hugh established a local church as an expression of the charismatic movement in the early 1970s and facilitated thousands of new believers into the kingdom after record numbers gave their lives to Christ during Billy Graham’s Mission ’89.

1990

As the founding minister of Cornerstone Christian Centre, which he established as a resource centre church in the early 1990s, Hugh helped launch UK Christian TV Ministry (with God TV and Revelation TV).

In the mid-1990s, he founded the global church network, Churches in Communities International, and, drawing on his academic expertise and experience, went on to initiate the UK Advisory Board for Christian Studies with its School of Biblical Studies and Masters’ Degree programme.

2000

In 2007 Hugh handed over the 'day-to-day' running of Cornerstone Christian Centre and founded the charity Charis Communications to enable him to meet needs much wider than the local church setting.

Charis Communications’ main focus is to develop effective Christianity by increasing biblical literacy, developing effective leadership and enhancing Kingdom initiatives.

In 2015 Hugh was made the Free Churches Moderator as well as a President of Churches Together in England and he finished serving in these roles in March 2022.

Hugh is married to Marion and they have three children and eleven grandchildren.

He holds a PhD in Religious Studies from the School of Oriental and African Studies, London University, and originally trained as a dental surgeon with an interest in maxillofacial reconstructive surgery.
