Session One:
‘Following at a Distance’ and ‘Through the Tears’
In this first session we will look at the disciple John, who, having been with Jesus at the Passover meal and Gethsemane, followed the arresting party when the other disciples scattered.
We will also look at Mary as she encountered Jesus in the garden on resurrection morning.

PRAYER & REFLECTION
End your time as a group, or individually, in a time of prayer.
If it is helpful, below is a written prayer you can use as a reflection on John and Mary’s encounters that we have looked at today.
Lord,
in the dark moments of life when I find myself following at a distance,
trying to make sense of the things I see,
help me to find a resurrection focus.
Cause me to take hold of the hope that You give,
strengthening me to press on through,
from the darkness to the dawn, embracing another day;
journeying with You, to that place of total security in You
and in the moments when I seek to see through my tears,
and struggle to trust my judgement,
be my wisdom and be my strength;
guide me to do what is right in Your sight,
and lead me to grasp the greater realities
that in my limitations I might otherwise miss;
above all ensure that I honour You
and give You the worship that You deserve.
Amen
